On an unrelated topic: it saddens me that "Artist Development" is no longer a necessary department at record labels. Once upon a time--even if it was a small, independent label--the A&R would send the artist to the AD department and you'd have a coach, teach you the mechanics of whatever type of music you aspired in. Thus, resulting in a stronger artist with more mass appeal (and overall talent) than they may have been, without training.
Today, the only artist development you see is on The Voice or X Factor TV shows.
