For the big NSFW sections, they tend to frown on anything that isn't uploaded to imgur, at least I haven't had luck posting direct links to images on my site. That's why creating your own subreddit is a good idea, that way you are in charge.
Again, I'm the last person who should be giving advice, but people seem to have a lot of luck with reddit.
