I did not feel safe in SK when I was there. They are still at war. It felt tense, dated, and stuck in time. Seoul is far more with the times, but the bases we were at were very old school. The South Korean military staff we worked with would always tell us stories about interactions with the North Koreans, calling them aliens and animals. When you're raised in an oppressed state you become delusional and believe all the nonsense you're being propagated. Truly sad, but it is what it is. The crazy father Kim was ranting and tirading even back then. About every two months we'd have to spend 3-7 days in the field living in bunkers playing war games. Even in the winter. We hated that fucking cock sucker for it too.

**Richard, I've never seen any of the tunnels. Just heard stories from the SK Army guys.
