You don't need to listen to the bullshit excuses. You don't need to the long back story. You don't need to hear the reasons. You don't need all these distractions from the truth. You want to understand why someone is making the choices they are making? Simple. Just remember, "people do what they are motivated to do"
He was motivated to ask for money.
Uhm... not real motivated to offer work in exchange. Not real motivated to work at all. In fact, he dodged the the suggestion of working a few times.
That's all you need to know about this person.
What defines us as people is not what happens in the course of life. Every single person has tons of dark stories from personal experience. What defines us as people is how we respond. His story "uhmm.. bunch of bad stuff happened... must be bad luck". His response "ok world, give me money". A weak person with a poor attitude, of low character who's exactly in the position he chose to put himself in, manipulating others and using his daughter to garner sympathy to get out of it.
