there is an extruded plastic membrane that was set in the base. After that cured the walls were centered over that and the membrane is tied into the vertical walls. The basin slopes 8" from the walls to the center. The joints were siliconed after the interior walls were sealed. Again, the people that built this does these for cities and commercial customers all over the Midwest. This was why I selected them.
