Democracy. When put to a vote this week, the British politicians voted against it, stating they need to see definite proof it was al-Assad's lot that used chemical weapons. It the vote had been yes, the British would be there already.
The feeling in the UK is we don't want to be deceived like we were with weapons of mass destruction and interfere in a countries' civil war. Imagine if this was not al-Assad who did it, that's how it is being looked at right now, trying to take an informed decision.
If the need to go to war with Syria is moral, right and fair, the British will be there.
