You could always use two K-cups per large cup you brew...but that defeats the savings somewhat.
Most times I just use a single K-cup (on large setting), take it out after the first brew, crinkle it a bit to loosen up the coffee grounds...then turn it 180 degrees to run it again on small setting. (does that make sense? lol). The large/small combo perfectly fills my thermal cup to the right level.
