A&E got attention that will likely transfer into higher ratings as the new shows air. The Robertson family had tons of people run out and buy a bunch of their shit as a show of support so they got more money. GLADD and other groups likely got a donation from A&E or some kind of other deal with them and GQ got its name everywhere.

It is the media working the viewers/consumers like a finely tuned instrument.
