I have sold off most of my valuable .com domains so am not biased.
I think these new extensions will have a big effect long term but not short term. As the new generation comes to age they will be think and act differently then all the crusty old fuckers who got online in the 90's. They will be more open to visiting domains with various extensions.
So I think it is prudent to grab some of these new domains.
