That is completely true. One of my best friends was working hard for his dreams whilst his brothers were violent characters, constantly having problems with the law. And get this, the parents were both teachers, amazing people.
About your black godson and other kids like him coming from a bad neighborhood, you said it best: you can accomplish anything. Ambition, hard work.
