The Romans who occupied Judea(Israel) wanted to wipe history clean leaving no trace of Israel so they literally just made up a new name for the territory and that name was Palestina. The only historical 'Palestinians' are Jews. Supposedly to add insult to injury they created a name similar to Israel's ancient mortal enemies the Philistines/Philistina.
