what the heck is
Patreon you ask?
it's a brave new world for independent artists/producers--guaranteed monthly salary... who ever heard of that, right?
kinda like KickStarter, but instead of raising a one time lump sum of funding for a project, Patreon provides a service (for a reasonable ~10% fee) where patrons can support a creator for as long as he/she gets the job done...
for example.
not only that, but unlike a faceless store, on Patreon the fans get to know the creators personally
in essence, it's a way to say goodbye to the antiquated business model of creating content and selling it in virtual stores just to have it pirated the very same day, which more or less puts independent artists out of business before they even get off the runway.
any aspiring independent artist/producer will do good considering this option before any other, at the very least to clear the above mentioned runway ;]
