Think about it for a minute.
Richard Nixon declares a "War On Drugs".
Jimmy Carter put it on the back burner (I read that during the Carter years, the entire DEA was a handful of agents)
Then Pres. Reagan fired it back up to the monster sized bureaucracy with an ARMY of DEA agents.
And what did they do?
They went after Colombia.
I remember it happening on the news very well.
The U.S. sent military "advisors" down to Colombia (the Feds threatened the country with sanctions if they didn't agree).
Immediately violence broke out in Colombia as the drug cartels began fighting the police and army (remember, they even killed the members of the Colombian Supreme Court)
Finally, after years of bloodshed and violence...the Cartels were "beaten" and the world was "safe" thanks to the U.S. Federal Govt.
NO!
The Mexicans took that over.
And THAT is when the so-called border "problem" really started.
Before that we didn't have a lot of violence on our border. And Mexico was a place that people drove down to and had fun.
Hell, our kids were going there for spring break (thanks to state govt's all raising the drinking age so a legal adult of 18-20 years old can't even have a fucking beer).
Now? It's a bloodbath because the United States Federal Govt. turned it into one with the "Drug War".
And they want to "fix" it by building a Wall?
