FRANKLIN TWP. ? School officials have identified the 10-year-old boy that was struck and killed by a police car on Sunday night as Matthew McCloskey.
Matthew, a fifth grader at Caroline L. Reutter School, was hit and killed by a police vehicle at the intersection of Delsea Drive and Paul Street on Sunday just after 7 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
6ABC says Matthew was on his way to a sleepover and was crossing the street with two other boys. One boy had made it across the street, the third boy was about to cross the street and Matthew was crossing the street when he was struck.
The police officer, identified by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office as Patrolman Nicholas Locilento, was traveling northbound on Delsea Drive and was responding to a call when the accident occurred, police said.
