I am always surprised with how many adult entertainers have thin skins about how they appear in earned media & public's comments on videos... perhaps I need to do a better job of managing expectations or performers need to be better prepared to make the most of it when they get in front of a television camera.
I've started a series of short pro-tips for twitter and FetLife, and this is what I've got so far.
Quote:
Pro tip: Before you create a public persona as any kind of adult entertainer, maybe spend some time in front of mirrors and cameras. Get comfortable with how you look & sound. Practice projecting sexy.

Don't be butthurt if you don't manage to pull that off every time. Even the most sympathetic photo journalist or videographer will be disappointed in you if you complain you looked like a depressed mope in front of the camera if in fact you were a depressed mope.

Pro-tip: Have a story and a message
|
Don't complain that a journo didn't invent a sexy backstory for your adult persona if you don't offer one or create one yourself. Don't expect them to call their audience to action to leave their news site if you don't
at least invite viewers to check out your website or follow you on twitter!

Pro-tips for would be pornstars or adult webmasters: Create rewards for fans or affiliates that share your vision about how your entertainer brand & persona should be portrayed. Recruit a messaging team.

It's not that hard to have a few talking points that you want captured about you and your site that you can have a fan paste into comments wherever your clips are discovered, and that you should be prepared to say in a pleasing fashion to each and every camera you step in front of on the red carpet or show floor. Like a politician's stump speech. If your fans and supporters at least know what your message is supposed to be, if you misspeak and it gets a million views on youtube or reddit or something, then a comment like "She meant to say ___" is like to get upvoted.
