I don't know what the history of Western civilization would have been like in the absence of the powerful Church of Rome, whether we'd have been better or worse off. There's a lot of blood on the hands of Christianity throughout history right up until the present day.

Region is and always has been a fairytale for adults used to control the masses. Sometimes it can be used for good as in civilizing the masses and sometimes it can be used for bad as in waging wars. Regardless it's still little more than a fairytale for adults.
