So, without that weight issue they would have hauled all that shit back to earth? Some straps and regular "shit"? More stuff is left behind on regular military mission and now they are supposed to have some "budget wise" savings on Moon mission?
That bag doesn't seem to weight that much, to be an issue. Or at least according to the story, they did account for the extra weight (the others knew too).
