Question for Dog Lovers (disturbing content)
I'm a cat person, not a dog person. I like dogs but I've never owned one so I don't know much about them really.
Just now, I was out for a ride and I heard what sounded like several dogs yelping really loudly from about 5 houses down the block. The yelps were coming from some back yard. When I got there and looked over the fence I saw 2 dogs freaking out and yelping in the back yard while a 3rd dog was pinned under a guy. The guy was holding the dog by his throat and looked like the guy was biting the dog's neck or face. The dog was also yelping.
Someone had called the cops and they were talking to the guy. I left so I don't know if he was arrested or not.
One of the neighbours says that he has "special" dogs but my french isn't good enough to know what he meant.
I have no idea what kind of dogs they were. They looked bigger than puppies but smaller than collies. I'd have to say they looked like the same size as poodles. They were white but may have had some black on them too.
Is there any kind of dog that requires that kind of training? I know dogs can get out of control sometimes and you need to whack them in the butt with a newspaper, but this looked and sounded like outright animal abuse to me because the pinned dog was obvously scared and in a shitload of pain, and the other dogs were obviously very upset. Am I missing something or is this kind of "training" normal for certain kinds of dogs?
