Used to run a dozen blogs 10+ years ago. Should I get back into the game?

Look, I was never big into the game.. making thousands of dollars or anything like that. I ran some of my own affiliate blogs and used GFY and an adult webmaster channel on IRC about 10-12 years ago to try and make side-cash while in college. At my BEST I was probably doing about 400-600 a month. I sold all my sites to a single buyer when I couldn't keep up with them anymore because of work and tube sites where starting to come out hot and heavy. Now I got some spare time and used to LOVE getting a new site going/adding content and starting to see traffic coming in from google and finally getting that first conversion was like holy shit!! I'd rather be spending the time I have now doing something constructive on the computer and making a couple hundred bucks than wasting away my time.

So my question is: Starting a wordpress blog now-a-days. viable? hostgator still legit? what's a good domain reg site currently popular with the crowd? I feel like I'm going to have to relearn a lot but I like things like that and it should be fun. I just need some words of encouragement I guess that let me feel like I could get back into things. Any advice would be amazing. GFY always did me proud back in the day
