i used to do a lot of HIV education work. I have a theory that part of the reason condom usage amongst younger groups in the US and UK is dropping again is that with modern drug treatments we now have a generation of people in the US and UK that have never actually seen a loved one die of AIDS, never had the horrid images on their tv screens unless it is framed as something that happens in far off Africa. In short, they aren't scared anymore.
