I'm very close to a doctor who has been in practice since the early 70's (maxillofacial surgeon). He hasn't had a malpractice suit during those four decades, and probably not even a complaint. The same could be said for the network of doctors he knows.
I can base my opinions on common sense. Any doctor who has a malpractice suits against him, especially that many in a relatively short time is not doing something right.
But it's your job to defend assholes, so you just keep at it. I've never seen you on the correct side of an argument, so why would you start now? If someone was smashing kittens with a hammer, you'd find a study online to put up a defense.
