You're a boy, it's different, and my experiences growing up were different, and perhaps that's why I've never left my girls alone with people I don't know or left them walk places alone, and why I got the heck out of Philadelphia and made a job where I made sure that would never have to happen.
I sat with my husband last night remembering the several the times I was approached by perverted men growing up in Philadelphia, the times I was flashed, followed home, even propositioned at just 10 years old outside of the corner store by a creepy fat guy in a station wagon to "look at his pee pee" for $20.00, sitting in sex crimes unit looking at photographs. I could have been kidnapped literally at least 8 times that I can remember by pervy men. Easily.
I'd rather shelter my kids a bit and have them forever then have them end up like Autumn Pasquale in a garbage bin behind two boys houses for her bicycle parts, or dead like this boy and living as a mother with the "what if".
