If they are good at what they do, you're getting a good price. I know an SEO guru who charges $2500+ a month, but almost everyone he works with eventually gets first page results on Google.
I do some SEO work but I'm not an expert, so I'm not looking for any SEO work. Just wanted to throw in my two cents.
