I took a course at the University of Toronto back in the early 90s called "the Politics of Pornography." I remember arguing repeatedly with one woman about porn. I was in support of it as a career choice for women, while she was convinced it wasn't a choice and that it was inherently violent against women. This was before the Internet and getting porn meant buying magazines and VHS tapes. One day it occurred to me to ask her: "Have you actually scene any porn?" Her response: "No." Well, that pretty much crushed her arguments instantly.
