There is a slippery road with pot. You can smoke it then 10 hours later be 100% sober and fine, but still have a high level in your blood. It can actually stay in your system for up to 30 days and beyond after you smoke it.
I think checking for impairment would work better, but I have zero tolerance for anyone driving under the influence of anything and I think the punishment for doing so should be very severe.
