Been in porn since the 60s. The swingers parties we went to were friendly more than wild. The big ones had an orgy room where anyone could go in and join. There was no problem with someone being acceptable. You weren't invited if you weren't acceptable. The orgy room provided real anonymous sex, just orgasms and lots of them. A person who would say no, never went into that part of the party.
The rest of the party was people mingling and if you met someone you liked, you went upstairs. If you didn't like them, you said no. The governing thing was who got invited. That alone reduced the number of times no was needed.
They ranged from small dinner party size, 4-6 couples, to parties of over 100 couples. The more people, the more chances there was of meeting someone who didn't strike a chord. But the picky people steered clear of those parties.
On the swinging scene, there were some couples who had rules, only with the partner in the same room was an obvious one. People with unrealistic high standards, people with no charisma or ugly. Never met them at parties.
Swinging is about having sex with a relative stranger anonymously and few holds barred. Knew and fucked lots of couples, friends with very few. A lot of it was the excitement and anticipation of meeting and fucking new people.
