Your right it could become possible for affiliates to become absolete.
If you look at traffic trends across the internet you will see from the 90s its moved from many small sites, to fewer very large sites.
Hand written content sites developed into user generated PHP sites with millions of pages.
All the traffic has moved..
The future for affiliates will be marketing yourself on these larger websites and adding content to those..
And it will probably keep changing rapidly as it has, and people will keep bitching.
I know i am sick of it, totally sick of it, and are now focusing on more real world businesses.
