FLIR Systems Inc. has announced the Raymarine Quantum CHIRP radar, a new compact solid state radar which features CHIRP pulse compression technology.

The new technology uses multiple compressed radar pulses with FLIR?s ATX advanced target separation technology to display targets like boats, landmarks, rocks, buoys and weather cells as close as 18ft. It is claimed that the resolution and separation quality is superior to that of traditional magnetron radars.
Radar is a dual use technology -- defensive and target acquisition.
