Haven't agreed with much, if anything, you've posted during this whole thing, but the above I 100% agree with (America or otherwise). I've never been one for the 'everything happens for a reason' lark, but I *do* firmly adhere to the belief that out of everything there is always one or many positives, even if you have to zoom out at look at a far bigger picture.

That's one of the reasons I hoped trump would win, even if extremely short term it would/will be 'bad'. If this also turns out to be true, along with everything else, in the long run it will be yet another positive within the bigger picture. It exposes just what lengths are gone to, to get/stay in office, regardless of what the populace want. This election might just be the best thing to ever happen for future democracy and news reporting. Shame about the infighting amongst us mere commoners - I'll take a layman's guess about that being more about getting your (our, whomever) shit out where it's actually heard.

History will look back on this period as any of these (and more):

The 2 main parties forced to take a long hard look at themselves, and being more about serving the people again

Big news media being forced to revert to news not opinions/opinion-shaping

Overhaul of counting votes to ensure no foul play

People learning about the electoral college and why it's in place (as a UK person even I can see how it's a very fair system for such a huge country) - or, switching to a popular vote

I've said it before many times and I'll say it again... people just aren't understanding there's a bigger picture, let alone seeing it.
