Like I said...I personally think he shouldn't have bothered with lying. Probably did so during one of the times he took the stupid advice of people around him.
He should have just flat told them it was none of their business and has nothing to do with what he wants to do for the country.

It's not so much the lie itself, but the fact that they make it into an issue.
The reality of this is some events are larger than others. Obama's inaugurations were much larger than average because of the times. Say what you want about this recent election, but the reality of this is the election in 2008 was most likely the most important election of our lifetimes. The United States was at it's lowest point ever and was dragging down the world with it.
But the problem is Trump's people make issues out of minor things. Trump is saying "This inauguration was the biggest ever" and it just wasn't. Trump is a show man and is used to making up outrageous claims. The only different is now Trump is being called out on it.
