Likely it's a network of zombie (slave) computers that visit the site per the script instructions. Therefore you get real traffic in the sense that they are unique to the various search engine analytics, but there is no real user behind the actions which trigger the sale.
Such services may not result in a direct sale, but if executed correctly have other positive side effects.
