I have always loved Metallica. And Justice for All is one of my favorite records. I am one of those people who really liked the black album, but it was different and "softer." Hardwired is fantastic. It is them returning to what they once did and worrying less about writing songs that can get on the radio. I saw them live with Guns N Roses, one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

I tried listening to Hail to the Thief today after reading this thread. Just as I remember...they're a good, unique band but that strangeness is just not for me. At least the way Radiohead does it.
I'm the same way with The Flaming Lips. Anything accessible and conventional from them is some of my favorite music, but 80% of their work I can do without.
