I don't now how I feel about this issue - them tearing down old monuments.
Many years ago there was a Jewish professor in NYC who discovered a swastika painted on his door. He left it up there. He decided instead of representing hate, it represented victory over hate. And if you think about it, it does. The swastika no longer represents hate but instead represents when mankind overcame hate.
It's the same thing with the confederate flag. When the say "The south will rise again" it's more of joke and a constant reminder of their defeat.
Why tear down confederate monuments when in many ways they represent their failures and short comings?
