IMHO tweeting once every day is not worth it all all if you're promoting affiliate programs. I doubt you'd get many followers with such low tweet frequency.
In our experience, if you want to gain, and more importantly, retain followers, you have to tweet more frequently than once a day.
We would recommend tweeting at least once every hour.
