FYI -- All unmarried, over 18 Israeli women are conscripted to the IDF (army) for two years -- men three years. Women soldiers all receive weapons training, basic, etc ... Most IDF women soldiers fill back area support roles but if needed can be sent to front lines as trained reinforcements. It's common to see these soldier 'girls' on buses going home on leave with their combat weapons in their laps.
