I meant Your cost (content acquisition + operational overhead) COGS

Nothing is more boring than to choose from 3 preselected packages.

I think you should test a base package with customer selected add ons -- and then look at the average customer spend per subscription.

When I was first learning how to sell and market products to customers; we were taught to define a need, then show a customer 2 alternatives to satisfy that need -- and force them to choose one solution -- then acknowledge that they made a wise decision and take their money or get them to OK the order (PO a commercial B2B sale). Talk at them and force a choice.

I don't think today's buyer is that easy to lead into a decision.

And Netflix is raising their price again -- I may just move their subscription over to a Amazon Prime add on like HBO if I do not see some added value at Netflix for my increased cost. I don't see your Netflix analogy at all.

I am going to guess that 90% of Netflix subscribers buy the base HD package for $12.00/mo.

If Netflix offered me a sci-fi channel with more, better, or original content -- I might pay for it -- because I like sci-fi content. They don't offer me that choice -- so I do to have a decision to make -- they have no upsell opportunity either.
