SpankChain is built on top of the Ethereum smart contract system. Bitcoin doesn't allow for decentralized apps, which is what Ethereum was built for. Bitcoin is just a ledger of who sent how many BTC to who.. Smart contracts allow for actual code to be executed, using a programming language called Solidity.
