Kim tested and succeeded with a 100ktn bomb, Hwasong-14 and the Hwasong-15, both were tested in 2017 and both can reach mainland USA.. any city.
Even if the USA had considered military action those two tests have stopped that right in its tracks, because Kim has shown he can hit you back.
ie.. North Korea is now an nuclear armed state, and is coming into any negotiations.. as a nuclear armed state. Ya'll better wake up to that reality fast. I really don't know what else he needs to-do to prove it?
If the USA want's to pull back on sanctions and co sign a peace treaty with the south, Kim is saying he won't test any more and will stop trying to advance the program.
So far the USA has played ball by ceasing military exercises with the south and agreed to meet with Kim for negotiations.
Incidentally lets say Kim goes in to melt down and announces he's going to get rid of all his nukes... then you have much BIGGER PROBLEM, because the North Korean people certainly don't want that, and neither do China and Russia, because that would involve the American military shifting their asses right to their borders.... like just to make sure they are gone kinda thing. Russia would LOVE to get their hands on North Koreas natural resources, as would China, but mostly China would like to build their own military bases opposite Japan.
the BEST solution is for the North and South to make peace and then get the North to become reliant on the south for income in an attempt to fend off China.
but they still get to keep their Nukes.. Which is what the Glorious leader wants
