if you look back why horse went out from the western culture you will find out it was
the "war pope" gregor III what prohibited to eat horse meat as a christian "law".
the real reason was that they had not enough horses for the war against byzantinum.
there are a few other religions what do not allow to eat horse meat one of them are the jews.
if one watch that from the human aspect and think horse should not be eaten it is just hypocrite because this aspects should be valid for every animal (including fish).
so it is nothing else as eating pork, beef, chicken or whatever meat.
it is just a question of education and culture to eat it or not.
in some countries they eat even rats what is much more logic to kill and animal what have to be killed anyway AND eat it as to just breed animals for food. I personally could never eat it but it is a result of my education and culture and not from my logic.
the most (not all) horse meat on the market is from horses what have a broken leg or some other problem (not infection or disease) and the animal would get killed anyway.
so it makes even MORE sense to eat it as to eat an animal what was born to end up on a food plate.
if we would just eat all the insects we are killing every year we would save so much natural resources and we would have all vitamins proteins and nutrients what are necessary.
