Internet, via phone usage has/ is changing all that, there things are being reported now, police are being held accountable, politicians are being asked what they are going to do. The courts are more likely to charge.
And don't get me wrong they still have a fucking long way to go, but change is in motion.

the current problem in India is a very nationalist hindu government that gives the hindu majority a feeling of superiority over minorities. And I count women in general as a minority in India - not by numbers but by societal status.
And this development we have everywhere where nationlism is growing - not just in India.
