I fully understand this. However, she broke the law. Daily. For over a decade. She came to the United States prior to 2001, applied to become a citizen and was denied, and since 2001 has lived in the United States illegally.
You have to understand that someone who comes to the United States illegally and stays here for over a decade breaks dozens of laws on a daily basis. She doesn't have a drive's license, doesn't have insurance, and doesn't have a car registered to her. How many jobs has she had where she made false statements about her citizenship? She cannot pay taxes because she doesn't have a social security number. The list goes on and on.
I'm sorry, I feel for these people. I really do. However, if you come to the United States illegally the are breaking the law. If I get caught driving without a DL it can be up to six months in jail for me plus a $1k fine (I looked it up). How is it this woman didn't see any jail time?
If you want to come to the United States and become a citizen, you have to do it legally. If not, you are a criminal.
