When you're talking about a person who's gender is undetermined (meaning it could be a man or woman, you just don't know yet) traditionally we would use the pronoun "he." Whether that's wrong or not is a separate issue. Some female writers use "she" to battle stereotypes and to close the gender gap. I think that's pretty obvious.
