I had what's known as a three Tesla MRI recently, apparently it's the latest and greatest, at least here in the third world of Maine. I was in the machine for about 2 hours and they took many hundreds of images. They also put a heavy ceramic plate on the area they needed to scan for whatever reason. This was my forth MRI and not my favorite thing to do. The dye injection they give you makes you feel like you have pissed yourself and the noise on this last visit was intense to say the least. I agree its cool science but dont wish it on yourself if you don't need it !
