Trump gives new, solid reasons to not only distrust but outright despise his presidency every day. I have a strong feeling he does most of it on purpose since his base absolutely loves to "troll" the liberals - sadly that might be his biggest appeal to them. Add to that the fact that several members of his inner circle have been indicted and the ongoing FBI investigations, plus numerous other activities allegedly connecting Trump to criminal behavior, and I'd say there are fundamental reasons for the backlash he's experiencing. Trump supporters will of course tell you it's all paranoia, lies, etc, anything to make them feel good about their horrible choice.
