I was in my backyard yesterday while neighbors down the street were in their backyard. The wind was blowing in all directions and I could smell their cigarette smoke. Now if any one of them is infected with Covid-19, anyone who can smell that cigarette smoke would be infected. This whole neighborhood would be done.
So in my opinion, if someone is infected, the Covid-19 spores do not fall to the ground and die with-in 6 feet of another person... this virus is airborne and can travel a great distance through the air.

smoke is a gas, the virus is passed in droplets, so there fore falls onto plastics, clothing etc..
however, you are correct in wondering if it can go further, what has been established is those running and cycling should be as far away as 20mtrs, depnding on speed of course!
