I don't think it is Alabama, lol. I don't know why I lost my accent, wasn't anything I tried to do. I can still do a Long Island accent if I want to but it is no longer natural. As I said, I don't know why but it has been that way snce I left the Island.
Wherever I live, in a short time, I have the local accent. When I visited home from Hatteras after about a year and went to some bars on the Island with my younger brother, he was introducing me as his cousin from Tennessee.
