On mobile gfy, chrome has always shown me a broken image that you need to click on so that is still happening as it never actually loads the image there, just shows that there is one.

Firefox is apparently just allowing the mixed content and not trying ot force the https://

On Opera I get the same messages in the console as I see in Chrome (which makes sense since Opera is built on Chromes engine).

So Chrome is just not allowing the mixed content.

edited in: confirmed that Firefox is marking the connection as not secure because of mixed content and is showing a message in the console about the mixed content on each image:
