After 3 hours on the phone waiting and finally getting ahold of someone there about my application that was denied for Hurricane IDA assistance, I found out that the reason my application was denied is that the inspector that called to verify my information, called while the utility company had restored power to the property.
The agent I spoke to basically told me, if this woman had called 24 hours earlier, my application would have been accepted for disaster assistance as I had no power at that time.
What a fucked up system, this is why so many people flat-out lie to the government, because when they do things legitimately, they get fucked over
