GA4 is very confusing and too much event driven. so in order to be able to track something that was easy to see by default on the GA3, now you have to set up an event. from what i can see they were trying to cut down on resources, while introducing something new to the stock holders (something very unfinished).
if they shut down GA3 next year they will be shutting themselves in the foot. if that happen i bet many webmasters (and SEO experts) will move away from GA. but i bet they have at least half a brain not to do it.
