that's cool. one last post on this, as it's weird bumping a Taylor Swift thread
a lot of peeps don't know Louis Armstrong spent time in Europe pre WW2 and at the beginning of it
jazz was huge in that era
(though Nina preferred the term 'classical Black music')
esp in Germany. not liked by the authorities but before the war couldn't do much to stop it aside from harassment and police beat downs in clubs. not like that still doesn't happen here regarding dancehall. granted far less than 10 years ago but still...
there is a reason that music, like all forms of art, is so threatening to some. careful what you write or some preacher is gonna pray to their god to send you to hell
WICKED book on this:
Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan
bunch of Black Americans, white Euro Jews, one rich white pure blood German who did everything he could to protect the rest. some of them survived and got out. as to the 'pure blood' who sacrificed his passion for them...no spoilers
towards the end Armstrong becomes a central character
it's fiction but based on real events. bad-ass read
not sure if it would be up your alley but might be worth checking out. anarchy of sound was always a feature
either way, awesome convo with you as always
checking out from gfy now to go make some dollaz
stay true to you. there is no other way
